Okay. Parents were not happy with the report card Josh brought home. And he was ordered to bring up his C+ in history or else. Knowing his parents, Josh did not want to find out what or else meant. Otherwise he’d find himself very, very bored or stuck cleaning the house all the time over the summer.
Josh still didn’t see the big deal in a C+. It wasn’t like he was failing or anything. Or that he was a dumb guy. He just had a hard time remembering dates, and people’s names and stuff like that. The only problem was, that was most of the history course.
So, what else to do but ask for the teacher’s help?
Naturally the teacher was too busy to help, and said she’d ask someone to tutor him after school. So, there he sat in the library, waiting for the ever mysterious tutor to show up. Or at least, he hoped they’d show up. Otherwise, he’d be completely and totally screwed.
Luckily, the tutor showed up. Or at leased who he figured to be his tutor. It was just too funny not to be. There was Belle, who he’d paired up with for a project, the only grade that kept him from flunking the class. And she was nice too. Maybe he’d have a chance after all.
He waved to her, and since he was sitting close by, Josh started talking anyway. “Hey Belle, you were right about And Then There Were None. It wasn’t Emily,” he said. It was a running joke between them. He switched to a more serious note.
“So, are you my tutor?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Even though Belle had a really hard life at home sometimes. With having to do all the house work since her mother died she had always managed to bring home A's in ever subject. Belle always knew how to do things so she'd have time to study. Even if it meant getting only 3 hours of sleep a night. But Belle's education was important to her. When your father is an inventor people kindof expect you to get good grades.
Her history teacher asked her to tutor someone who needed help in history. She said yes even though it would be more on her plate but she wanted to help.
When she found out who it was she laughed. She shouldof known it was going to be Josh.
As she walked into the library she spotted Josh. She laughed at what he said. "I told you Josh. It didn't make since for it to be Emily." She laughed again.
"Yes Josh I am your tutor." She smiled at him. "I'm glad you finially asked for help." She laughed slightly. She knew Josh was having problem in history and she was glad that he was finally going to get some help. And he finally asked for said help.

Josh laughed in return. In truth, he was glad Belle was his tutor. Unlike most, she was a calm and patient person. And she had a sense of humor. If anyone could help him remember the most awful subject on Earth, then it would be her. “Well, you were right. That makes the score, what, twenty-nothing you?” Josh joked. Though he was pretty sure it was more than that.
“Yes, I gave in. I was happy with a C+,” Josh continued, shrugging. “My parents on the other hand, were not. So I have to try to pull it up to the B range, or off with my head.” With that, he made a little gesture of two fingers across his throat, implying his parents would decapitate him if he brought home a grade lower than a B. He wouldn’t really put it past them to do something irrational, maybe something not a serious as killing him but… still. They could be neurotic sometimes.
At least he wasn’t too far away from a B minus.
“So, let’s get started,” he said, moving his backpack off the chair next to him for Belle to sit down at. And for the next hour, Josh studied his brains out; taking all the memory improving tips Belle threw at him. Something in his brain apparently clicked, because within the hour, he was finally able to make some sort of sense of what he was learning.
“Did I mention I’m forever in your debt?” Josh said, mockingly bowing to Belle. “Anytime you need a favor, just ask.”

Belle laughed. "I don't keep count but I'm pretty sure its over that much." It was more like 30 but whatever. Like it really matters that much. She smiled to herself.
She nodded. "Parents can be that way sometimes. There isn't really anything you can do about it but try to do and get the grades they want." She understood enough to know how parents work. Sure she didn't get anything like that from her dad but she had all As. She could probably fail and her father wouldn't care.
And that was honestly the sad part. Her father didn't notice a lot.
Belle sat down next to him and started helping him. It was hard at first because, well, it wasnot that Josh was stupid he just couldn't get anything stuck in his head. Belle tried everything she oculd think of and it finally clicked in his head. He was finally getting it.
Belle laughed. "No you haven't but thanks for letting me know that." She smiled. "Don't worry about it until after you get a B in History. Then you can tell me I'm forever in you debt."
