Books about boring old history- who actually read these things for fun? Chandler shook his head to get the long dark brown streaks of hair out of his eyes as he scanned the old dusty school library shelves for a book on Thomas Jefferson. Chandler was usually the type of kid to never be caught dead in the library- he never read for fun, instead he wrote and performed his own music- it was what kept him busy when he should be done homework. But about three weeks ago he had been assigned a huge history essay to write comparing the presidencies of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington for his U.S. History class. Really, he didn't care about either of those two guys. He wasn't big on politics at all, but this paper was about 20% of his grade- if he didn't at least write something, he would surely fail the class.
So, now, only two days before the paper was due, Chandler searched the library for books on the two presidents. Strangely, he wasn't worried. Chandler always saved papers for the last second, and somehow he always got As on them...no clue how, he was just a good bs-er, it was a gift, he called it. Chandler finally found a book with Washington written on the side of it, but as he pulled it out, he realized it was a book on Washington D.C. Chandler was completely lost in this small place- where were the helpful computers to look book up?- god, this library was old.
His mind began to drift off to other places as he continued to glance through the shelves once again. Who could he hang out with today when he should be doing his essay- Bridgette would probably eat his head off if she knew that he hadn't written his essay, yet so it wouldn't be smart to call her. Wait, JEFFERSON! His hands quickly snatched up the book, and he smiled with delight as he saw the face of the third president of the U.S. on the cover, Chandler slunk down to the carpeted floor which probably hadn't been vacuumed in a few centuries. He opened up the book on his legs, as he stretched them out to the shelf across from the one his back was leaning against. Oh the joy of reading books on dead guys...

Sqeak. Sqeak. Sqeak. The sound in which was to be heard, as Maddy made her way through the hallway... toward the library? Some stupid report... Ugh. Presidents? Yuck. Her shoes finally stopped sqeaking as she pushed the library door open, and stepped inside on the carpeted floor. Maddy looked through the shelves off books silently, running her right hand over the brimes off all the books. The dim light made it kinda hard to see the titles. Finally?! A book all about... American Presidents. Grabbing the book, she relized how heavy the book was. It went for the floor at a fast pace, making a loud THUD when it hit the floor. Damn. Maddy cursed slowly and quietly. Picking up the book she looked around to see if the angrey librian was around any corners, nope all clear. Pondering on the thought of, should I go sit in a hard wooden chair? Or a nice comfy beanbag chair back at the house? Maddy decided it would be best to stay here, she would probably goof off if she went back to her house. Video games. Ha.
Chandler? Aw. Maddy's heart dropped down to her stomach, she had to stop in the middle of the aisle, and tell herself to chillout. Walk, sqeak, walk, sqeak. Her sneakers still made some sound on the carpet floor. Haha. Hey... Maddy whispered and sat down next to him, Ew. Presidents essay thing to? Maddy held up her book as a symbol of surrender. She smiled, and opened the cover, and flipped through some of the pages. George Washington, yea she was gunna do her report on George Washington. This whole "essay" thing didn't seem to hard to her right now... Well that is until she would start working on it. Who are you doing you thing on? Maddy questioned and looked up form her "studies". She was never really the one to like to write long essay's about history and things. Maddy liked writing about adventures, and things like the Lord Of The Rings. Things that you couldn't really explain... Fairytales.
Fairytales? Haha. Get real. Maddy believed them though, atleast she made herself believe them. They just fasinated her, I mean the character when they were having really crappy times, they always got their way. Well how come when Maddy is having a crappy day or something she never gets her way? Because she isn't in a fairytale. So Maddy lieks to believe that she is in one, and she has learned that having a positive attitude has helped with her outlook on this... Haha whatever.

The constant squeaking Chandler began to hear started to sound more and more like a rhythmic beat, as Chandler spaced out from his music and began to tap lightly on the side of his legs, staring down at the opened pages of the new, but not at all actually comprehending them as his eyes scanned across the paper. While his eyes should be reading "Thomas Jefferson owned many...", inside his head he thought of a counterbeat to the current melody and began to play it along with the constant squeaking against his legs. Lyrics seemed to flow easily in his mind as he tapped his foot lightly against the shelf, keeping time with the variety of music. Chandler was completely in the musical mode- which wasn't good when he had a long history essay to write in so few days. And as a sudden voice appeared next to him, Chandler jumped a little, startled, and looked over to see the brilliant blue eyes of Maddy Jennings.
"Hey," Chandler greeted her back but in a normal tone of voice as he stopped his rhythmic tapping, not remembering that he was still in a quiet library environment. "I mean...hey," he corrected himself, now speaking in a soft whisper. He nodded to her question about the essay, and he smiled in return when she held up her book. Though, he wouldn't have really cared whether or not he did his essay at the moment. On his list of current priorities, just plain hanging out with Maddy would fall very high above writing an essay on something he had no care for.
"I guess, Thomas Jefferson," Chandler explained with a grin. "I don't really like him as a president, not that I really care that much about his presidency, but his was the first book I could find in this place." Chandler eyed her book seeing that it was one on the ever-so-loved George Washington- haha, if Chandler wrote his paper on him, he would definitely just talk about all the negativity qualities that man possesed- the ones that no one really saw beneath the mask of being an army officer.
"So, any reason why you've saved this essay for the last minute like me?" he questioned, not know Maddy to be the time to not start her assignments the moment they are assigned.
